Experience sakura as part of Japanese life For many Japanese people, cherry blossom is a landscape to move through as much as an occasion to seek out. Trees line residential canals and quiet streets, appearing outside schools, small temples and neighbourhood parks. People pass them on the way to work or home, slow down, look and continue. A few minutes are enough to sense the season’s fragility: petals fall, the wind scatters them and the moment passes. Away from the famous sites, sakura can feel especially meaningful.
Did you know? Tokyo has more than 1,000 areas planted with cherry trees. Around 600 cherry varieties have been recorded in Japan.
Leave room for the unexpected Some of the strongest memories begin with a detour, a station chosen out of curiosity or a residential street followed by chance. A lone cherry tree beside a building, a small shrine between two houses or a lively neighbourhood park can become a moment to savour. Look beyond the “best blossom spot” and sakura becomes part of a living landscape. We build this room for spontaneity into our spring itineraries.
In Tokyo, some places naturally offer a more relaxed atmosphere: old Yanaka, the long banks of the Kandagawa River, Asukayama and larger parks on the outskirts. Quieter possibilities include the Zenpukuji River, parts of the Tamagawa, residential parks such as Shakujii and Koganei, and peaceful districts in the west of the city.

We felt in safe hands from the start
The Caramage team, and Anne in particular, were wonderfully responsive. Their professionalism, warmth and willingness to listen put us at ease straight away. Everything felt effortless. We are from Canada and have recommended Caramage to two friends, who also loved their trips. We would recommend this agency without hesitation.
